Discover the Dutch countryside

During this extensive day trip of approximately 10 hours, you will exchange the bustling centre of Amsterdam for the tranquillity and charm of the Dutch countryside.

From Amsterdam Central Station, you will travel to the Zaanse Schans, where you can admire and visit historic windmills. Then you will discover the traditional fishing villages of Volendam and Marken, where you will be introduced to local crafts and products. Next, you will travel to Keukenhof, where you can admire the beautiful flowers. The tour programme may take place in a different order.

Along the banks of the River Zaan are more than ten authentic windmills, which together with the historic houses and workshops form a unique open-air museum. The area is freely accessible and one of the most beautiful places in the Netherlands to see traditional windmills up close.

In Volendam, you will walk along De Dijk and the charming harbour with colourful houses and classic fishing boats. Here you will visit a cheese factory where you will learn how Dutch cheese is made and you can also taste a piece. If you stay for lunch in Volendam, we recommend the freshly caught fish.

Then you will travel to Marken, once an island in the Markermeer and now a peninsula. Between Volendam and Marken, you will take a relaxing 30-minute boat trip across the IJsselmeer. In Marken, you will visit a clog factory where they make clogs using a method that is over a century old. Try on a pair of wooden clogs and discover how comfortable they actually are.

Discover the colourful gardens of Keukenhof

In Keukenhof, you can enjoy no less than 15 kilometres of walking paths, surrounded by more than seven million flowers. These world-famous gardens are only open for a few weeks each year and are among the largest and most beautiful flower gardens in Europe.

At Keukenhof, you will discover a colourful world of flower fields with more than 800 varieties of tulips, as well as crocuses, daffodils and hyacinths. Inspiring themed gardens, impressive flower shows and flower-filled displays make a visit to Keukenhof an unforgettable experience. Every year, millions of flower bulbs are planted by hand, transforming Keukenhof into a beautiful sea of colour every spring.
